The Burundi flag is made up of a white Saint Andrew’s cross, thus the flag is divided into four areas. The bottom and top are red and the right and left are green. In the center is a white circle containing three red stars bordered in green, which symbolize the three predominant ethnic groups in Burundi (the Hutus, Twas and Tutsis). They also symbolize the three elements of the national motto: unity, work and progress.
This flag was adopted on June 28, 1967, and its original aspect ratio (2:3) was changed on September 27, 1982 to the current one (3:5). wikipedia
